re: Eternal September

A response to Brennan's Eternal September journal entry in which he mentions toying with the idea of paywalling some of his writing. I had never pulled together the knowledge I had about it despite hanging out in spaces with other creatives, some who make a living out of it.

Here are some ideas of, you, as a creative what to put behind a paywall, based on what I've seen others do.

What I enjoy about these offerings is that the final product is free while the process is behind a paywall that directly supports the creator. The people interested in supporting these creators may be fellow creators who want to part of the final product through offering feedback or be part of the creator's community. They may also want to see the behind the scenes of the creation process.

When it comes to writing, I don't have specific examples to offer. Hypothetically, if I were to support an writer/blogger, I would be interested in perks like a monthly poll with a list of topics, or posts they may want to write about but it takes considerable more time and effort to create for without financial support. Similarly, offering early drafts for feedback would also be pretty interesting. And posts like behind-the-scenes peeks.
